Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District (VSCSD) is Hosting Facilities Planning Community Input Sessions on February 20 and March 14, 2024
Residents are encouraged to attend and provide input regarding facility needs and priorities.
VINTON, IA – The Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District (VSCSD) is seeking community assistance to help shape our long-range facilities master plan. Our commitment to continuous improvement has prompted a collaborative effort to refine and implement a plan. A master plan is a roadmap that forecasts what the District’s facilities could look like. It allows the District to make strategic investments that address current needs while also considering future needs. Currently, no specific projects have been identified or agreed upon. Our goal is to develop a community-driven solution that effectively addresses our most pressing needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
District residents are invited to attend Facilities Planning Community Input Sessions on February 20 and March 14 at 6:30 PM. Tuesday, February 20 will be held at Shellsburg Elementary School, and Thursday, March 14 will be held at the Middle School. Interactive input sessions will be led by the District’s master planning consultants. Residents will also have the opportunity to tour all school buildings within our District. Student and staff-led tours will be available from 5:00 – 6:15 PM at Tilford Elementary, Shellsburg Elementary, and the Middle/High School. The two sessions are consecutive and we encourage residents to attend both.
The District is paying off the High School debt soon, which creates an opportunity to invest in facilities without increasing the levy rate or the school portion of property tax. Our intent is to arrive at a plan that can be voted on November 5, 2024. This process will include multiple opportunities for feedback. We hope you will participate in envisioning a future for our school facilities at Vinton-Shellsburg.
