School districts across the country offered free breakfasts and lunches for the last two years. These free meals are set to end at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
Parents can apply for free and reduced priced meals for the USDA’s National School Lunch & School Breakfast Program through the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District electronic application.
This interactive application will guide you through the application process. This is the first time our school district has offered the online application process. If you would like to apply using a paper application, they will be available at the summer meal locations and the district office. We encourage families to take advantage of this program, as it will also provide free or reduced school registration fees for those who qualify. School registration is set to open July 18th.
